Meet the Creator
Micaella, also known as Mikki, is a first generation Cuban-American who was born and raised in New York City. Growing up in different areas of NYC, Micaella grew to learn the different needs of children. With a strong desire and passion to offer guidance to the youth, Micaella established Big Sister Best Friend in 2022. Micaella has been working in the counseling field since 2020. She has worked with adolescents and adults dealing with mental health challenges, and lack of mentorship.
Micaella graduated from Lehman College with a Bachelors in Psychology and received her Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Alfred University.
Micaella's passion for helping is highlighted through her mentorship and community service within her local community and in Guatemala, where she builds schools for children in remote villages.
Micaella created Big Sister Best Friend to provide guidance and mentorship for the youth, as well as an accountability system. Big Sister Best Friend is not your doctor, nor your therapist. Big Sister Best Friend is exactly that- a sister and a friend with years of not only educational, but also life experience, that you can count on no matter what.
Big Sister Best Friend Takes Guatemala!
Micaella has been successful in helping build two schools in Guatemala. Big Sister Best Friend provides this as an annual service learning opportunity.
Fun Fact!
Micaella started babysitting when she was just 12 years old. Because she enjoyed it so much, she knew she would one day implement her love for children, and passion for guiding them, into her career.
